French Day at the Ministry of Education Language Center
CampusFrance, Singapore

The French Day was held on 7 and 8 August 2017 at the MOELC (Ministry of Education Language Center) in Bishan. The event attracted over 420 students aged 13 to 16 years old from different schools in Singapore. These students attend weekly French lessons at the Center.

The students took part in inter-cultural activities designed to increase their motivation for learning the language; such as a workshop on Le Petit Prince, a memory game about places in Singapore and France, a drawing competition inspired by French paintings and a tasting of delectable French pastries including croissants and pains au chocolat. To render the activities more exciting, all games were played in French!

Awards were given out in the presence of teachers and parents, who were also treated to French songs performed by the students, and videos showcasing their passion for France.

Given their ready skill in the language, students of the MOELC may look forward to further their studies in France in public universities or specialized engineering schools, thus benefitting from a good quality education system coupled with low tuition fees.
