Bastille Day is celebrated with parades and fireworks across France every 14 July.  It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 by the people, in the first days of the French Revolution.

Traditional festivities took place this Friday, July 14, when thousands of troops marched down the prestigious Champs Elysées avenue, for the traditional national day parade.

WE CONGRATULATE Samuel Hon, a recipient of the France Excellence scholarship from the French Embassy, for having participated in this exceptional event. A student in the elite French double degree programme in engineering (NUS- Ecole Polytechnique),  Samuel was a symbol of Franco-Singaporean cooperation, as he joined two  hundred and forty-six students from École Polytechnique selected to participate in the July 14th military parade in their Grand Uniform.
